Why are my transcripts showing up in the wrong language?

If your meeting transcript appears in the wrong language, it usually means the Notetaker couldn’t correctly detect the spoken language during the call.

First, a quick heads-up

  • Bubbles automatically detects and transcribes in 55 supported languages (see full list at What languages does Bubbles support?)

  • You don’t need to set the language manually.

  • If the wrong language is picked up, it’s often due to audio quality or mixed languages in the meeting.

Common reasons this happens

  • Mixed languages: If participants switch between languages, the Notetaker may mis-detect.

  • Accents and dialects: Strong accents or uncommon dialects sometimes cause misclassification.

  • Poor audio quality: Background noise, low volume, or overlapping speakers reduce accuracy.

  • Unsupported language: If someone speaks in a language outside the supported list, Bubbles may substitute the closest match.

How to fix or improve accuracy

  • Check your audio setup: Use a clear microphone and minimize background noise.

  • Stick to one primary language during the meeting for the best results.

  • Manually share feedback: If transcripts keep appearing in the wrong language, send an example to support so we can help fixing it.

Good to know

  • Bubbles supports 55 languages, including Afrikaans, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Nepali, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and many more.

  • If you’d like another language supported, reach out to the team to request help guide future improvements.

Still stuck?

If transcripts continue showing in the wrong language, email [email protected] with:

  • Meeting link and time

  • A short example of the transcript error (what happened vs what you expected to happen)

This helps the support team diagnose the issue quickly.
